Got your first SWE job? These 5 Mistakes Could Get You Fired!
Be the best New Hire! 😉
As I grow older & gain more experience with software engineering or work in general – I come across many young people who join the industry but fail to exceed or even meet certain expectations.
Being a fresher or being inexperienced, of course means you will not be able to perform optimally right at the start of your term, but at least you can try to leave the best impression possible. 🌸
If you are searching for your first job or have just landed one, please go through the points below so that your journey starts on a great note.
1. Ask for Help/Guidance.
Very simple point. If you are stuck, ask the right person about it. Don’t waste time & assume people will come to you. Be proactive, ask around, & be curious.
2. Ask for Learning Opportunities & Relevant Tasks.
Don’t stay idle! Ask your teammates or your manager for tasks that are aligned with what they are working on. Ask them if you can work on a POC or help out with some kind of R&D.
This will help you understand their tech stack & requirements. It will also lead to your personal growth.
